HAWAII RECAP
I spent a week in Hawaii with family and it was awesome! Because I was traveling with family, I didn’t plan to film as much for YouTube as I usually would do during solo travel. But I think I came home with four videos I will be sharing in the coming weeks. My family humored me by going on two road trips where we found some amazing places to explore. We spent most of the week relaxing on various beaches :)
I thought it was a bit confusing planning how to travel in Hawaii since I had never been to the state. But now that I’ve been there, I have a much better feel and hope to go back and see a lot of the places I didn’t go this time. On this trip we went to three islands – Kauai for 3 days, Maui for 3 days, and Oahu for one day. That leaves 5 islands that I didn’t visit, of which you can only visit 3 so … next time for Hawaii, Molokai, and Lanai :)
50 STATES VISITED
I have now visited all 50 states! And it took me exactly 50 years to do it haha. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit them all. To end with Alaska and Hawaii this year has been memorable to say the least.
I’ve been asked what is the next goal? Honestly, I don’t have one. A couple other “numbers” I have are 22 countries and 95 airports (here’s the full list of airports). Getting to 100 airports should happen within the next year. In 2018 my goal was 50 states and 50 countries by 50 years old, but Covid took care of that. I haven’t left the USA since 2019 when I visited 7 countries that year. I would like to do some international travel, but to tell you the truth I have loved traveling around our country the past four years. And there are so many more places I want to go!
MEMBERS ZOOM CALL
Since my last blog 3 weeks ago, I also did a members only zoom call. It was fun to connect with a few of you and “hang out” so to speak. I think I picked a bad time (Friday night), because I got a lot of messages from people that time didn’t work. I think we’ll try a Sunday evening in a few weeks and see what happens.
We’re up to 70 paid members – which is remarkable to me! I post at least one video per week for the executive producer and producer level, and the supporter level has access to about one of those videos per month. If you’re interested in becoming a member, but not sure it’s worth it, I’m going to do a FREE members only video in a couple weeks and post it on YouTube. That way you’ll be able to see if it’s something you might be interested in on a weekly basis.
NEW MERCH SOON
I’ve had some requests for new merchandise and it’s almost ready! We have been working on some non-t-shirt type merchandise, and I’ve seen some of the designs from Mimi (who has done the previous designs). Hopefully it will be out before the next blog in 3 weeks!
UPCOMING TRAVEL
Well … not much. I have some obligations here in Wichita the next two weekends, so any travel I do will have to be local. I have some ideas for a couple “small town, USA” videos in this area. I don’t have a lot of videos in the can, so I need to figure out some places to go! I have some plans for Thanksgiving and a lot of plans for the holiday break in December. I’ll talk more about that in my next blog in mid-November.
